Latin Name: Lawsonia inermisCommon Name: HennaPart Used: Leaves
Active Ingredient: Lawsone (2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone), an hennotannic acid.
Product Details: 100% pure Henna. free of preservatives or additives. This product is certified organic, following the Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) for medicinal plants published by the World Health Organization. It is free of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, metallic salts, chemical dyes, adulterants; it is not irradiated or genetic engineered (GMOs). The powder comes in airtight, 100g vacuum sealed packages.
Benefits: The lawsone in henna is a red - orange molecule which binds with the keratin in the hair. Henna is translucent, so the end colour will be different for each person dependent on the original hair colour. If you have white-blond or white-grey hair, henna can turn your hair a bright orange, golden blonde hair will become a rich red, brown hair can become auburn or just have red highlights in the brown. Henna can be mixed with cassia, indigo & amla in different ratios to make different colours.Body art quality (BAQ) henna is permanent in the hair.Henna cannot lighten the colour of your hair. (brown hair can't be turned a lighter red).Henna coats the hair, making it glossy, smooth & thicker. With repeated use, henna can make the hair stronger, decrease frizz and relax tight curl.
The hennotannic acid and tannins in henna have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, meaning henna is a fantastic shampoo replacement when dealing with dandruff, eczema & psoriasis. Of course, here I am obliged to state that only a physician can diagnose diseases and prescribe drugs. (Good thing pure, unprocessed plants are not a drug!).A 20 minute application to the scalp 2 - 3 days a week can replace a chemical shampoo regiment for most people.
Application: Please follow the instructions linked to on the website
Disclaimer: For external use only. Do not use on cut or abraded scalp and in the area of the eye. Keep out of reach of children. Always test cassia before using: If you live in a region with hard water (high mineral content), the minerals can build up in the hair, which reacts with cassia. When dissolved minerals react with cassia, it can turn hair green, dark brown or a green-black. Always collect hair from your brush as do a test before using cassia on the scalp.
Natural plant based dye is generally considered safe to use but it is advised to consult your physician if you have any questions about your health.
Storage: Henna must be stored in the FREEZER.
