About Us

Hello everyone!

My name is Larissa, and in July of 2026, I became the new owner and operator of Henna Canada! I shall continue to offer the excellent products and kits that Lisa developed and curated over the last 15 years, while also bringing my own 23 years of henna expertise to the table.

I have been the owner of Dragonfly Henna, based here in Fredericton, NB since 2003. My operations focus on artistry services, workshops, and also retail sales of supplies for both body art and hair. I will be migrating my premium body art products into this space over the next few months, as I migrate the Dragonfly shop over to Henna Canada.

Personally I have been hennaing my own hair for 22 years, and am excited to guide clients on their adventures to finding natural options for colouring their hair.

I've built my professional career on exceptional customer care, and am an advocate for the safety and education on all things henna.

I've been an ICNHA certified natural henna artist since 2004. I was either a board member or the president of the Canadian Association of Face and Body Artists for almost 10 years. I have co-produced 2 international body art conferences (Bodyssey), have taught multiple classes at 8 international conferences, and have taught workshops in schools, college and university affiliated programs since 2004. I hold a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Guelph, and am a part time maths and sciences tutor to keep my brain engaged. I'm an eclectic blend of science, math, business, comedy and art!

I am also the mother to two grown children who are my pride and joy! I've traversed this crazy life adventure with my husband and best friend since 1990. I've been a cat mom for 32 years as well - but recently lost our last furry friend - so am taking a little break to heal and spend some time watching houseplants grow, without watching them get eaten by cats (I'm looking at you, future spider plant!).

As mentioned, Henna Canada will continue to provide pure, unadulterated herbal powders for our clients. We offer the freshest body art quality henna, meaning crops are triple sifted, vacuum sealed and wrapped in light-tight packaging to maintain their quality.

Henna Canada is run by a one-woman show. I will answer emails within a few business days, but cannot offer 24/7 on-call support. I am also happy to offer 2 shipping days per week, where orders received from Wednesday-Saturday will ship out on Monday, and orders received from Sunday-Tuesday will ship out on Thursday. The exception to this schedule, is that all orders that include fresh henna paste will ship on Mondays only (because they are perishable and cannot be caught in a warehouse over a weekend).

I will be working at creating content in social media spaces over the coming months as well - Instagram, Facebook and YouTube are zones I'm looking at. Please send along suggestions of content you might like to see, so that I can create material that is of interest to you!

And, as I edit this About Us page - I will include Lisa's timeless advice: "For the love of all that is common sense, if in the extremely rare circumstance you are experiencing an allergic reaction, wash off the product right away. Then contact me and we'll try to figure out if it's a true allergy or an interaction with another product or medication. The powders are pure & should never burn, itch or irritate."

Looking forward to this adventure with you!
