Henna Products:
All henna products are tariffed, as they are all reselling & / or originate outside of North America.
My Art & Handmade Goods:
My paintings, ornaments, henna'ed silk scarves, skin care, perfume & jewelry are all USMACA / CUSMA compliant - meaning that they are exempt from tariffs because I make them in Canada.
but:
To be able to ship my handmade goods to the USA without tariffs, I need to shop with couriers. When shipping with couriers, there are added brokerage fees, CUMSA processing fees, entry fees, 'you breathed too much air' fees. Ok, i might have made that one up, but it's not too far fetched...
So I did a test:
A customer from the USA bought henna powder, shipped with Canada Post, paid the tariffs. The value was $16.20 USD. They paid $14.44 in shipping plus tariffs.
I entered the same package details & values into the 3 most popular shipping solutions and the shipping was cheaper with Canada Post paying tariffs than with the couriers tariff-free. After all of the brokerage & processing fees, Fed Ex was $32.26!
Conclusion: it might be cheaper to pay the tariffs on an order valued at less than $100 CAD ($70 USD).
Expensive orders (like a custom $500 painting or large jewelry order) will be less expensive to ship with a courier under the tariff-free CUSMA exemption.
Email or DM for large Handmade orders:
I will search all of the shipping solutions for the best price before you pay for your order. I prefer to choose courier options that have the brokerage fees included, but it will let you decide. If you choose a courier option that doesn't have all brokerage & processing fees included, you might get hit with an added fee when the package is delivered.
Tariff / fees regarding cancellations or refusals
The government will not refund tariff duties, brokerage fees or associated shipping fees.
This means:
If you decide to cancel your henna order after you've paid for it, I can't refund your shipping or duties.
If you had a handmade order or large henna order shipped with a courier but refuse the package because of an unexpected fee to be paid on delivery, the shipping & all associated fees cannot be refunded.
I cannot refund your order until the parcel is returned to me. See my Refund Policy for more info
